Savannah (Strode) Williams is a 2014 graduate of Clay County High School who was involved in athletics in a variety of ways. She managed boys basketball, played two years of softball, and was a four-year member of the golf team. After high school she played golf collegiately for four years.
While Williams enjoyed success on the softball diamond, garnering All-District-Tournament honors as a senior, it was on the links where she shined. During each of those years she placed in the top three of the district and top four of the region.
Williams continued her golf career at Cumberland University, where she was on the starting roster for four years. During that time she appeared in two National Golf Championships in West Palm Beach, FL. Williams was also the recipient of the 2017-2018 Mid-South Conference Champion of Character Award, a two-time NAIA Scholar Athlete, a three-time All-Mid-South Conference member, and a two-time Academic All-Mid-South Conference member.
Nominator Comment:
“Savanna’s career speaks for itself. Not only is she one of the few student athletes we’ve had to complete her collegiate career playing sports, but she excelled while doing so, as can be seen from her many honors. Savanna is definitely Clay County Sports Hall of Fame material.”
